Solstice Design Partners' Scholarship

We value the contributions of our local community to our firm - especially that of Port Moody Secondary School in shaping who we are today. To recognize this contribution, we are offering a $1000 scholarship to one student of PMSS who demonstrates exceptional potential in the fields of science, technology, engineering, business, and entrepreneurship.

What we're offering

01

$1000 in funding

The winner of our scholarship will receive $1000 in funds to apply towards their post-secondary education.

02

A showcase for YOU

We want to see your potential - which is why we want to take a look at your most exciting project, and what you can do at your best.

03

A quick application

We understand you're busy, which is why we've kept our scholarship application short and simple - all we want is a project and a brief explanation.

04

Future connections

We're a fast growing firm. Though we don't currently have an internship program in place, the recipient of our Partner's Scholarship will be the first to receive a call if/when we do.

Who you need to be

Currently a domestic student at Port Moody Secondary School, enrolled in Grade 11 or 12 of either the BC Dogwood or International Baccalaureate programs.

Demonstrated interest in science, technology, engineering, business, and entrepreneurship, through any kind of work outside of the classroom.

Pursuing post-secondary education at a Canadian university, preferably (but not necessarily) in the fields of science, design, engineering, or technology.

Able to showcase a piece of personal work, and why it matters - in terms of own professional development, and value to the community at large.

How to apply?

Our application process is simple, with just a couple of steps:

  1. Pick a project of yours which you are exceptionally proud of, and think demonstrates what we're looking for.
  2. Find a way to showcase this project online or in a sharable way, whether that be a showcase site, uploaded code, an application, pdf overview, etc.
  3. Write a brief 350 word overview which describes your project, explains how it's important, shows how it's connected to our target fields, and tells us what you learned in the process.
  4. Send this overview, alongside your project showcase to both of the following email addresses and wait to hear back! Make sure to submit your written overview in PDF form, and your showcase in whatever form you deem appropriate, though all documents as PDFs (i.e. website link, video, presentation in PDF form, etc.)

Example Projects (and how to submit them)

We understand it might not be entirely clear what's classified as a personal project, or how to submit certain possible ones. Here are a couple of example projects and how you might want to showcase them:

  • An arcade game you developed and published on Steam
  • Send us a download link to check it out
  • A blog about tea you've run for the past year, working with local cafes to showcase featured products
  • Send us the website link and a couple of your favourite articles
  • A graphic design firm you started last year
  • Send us the website link and a showcase of some of your client work in a PDF portfolio (or on the website)
  • A drone you built for fun and then programmed to recognize faces
  • Send us a copy of the code and a video of the drone in operation
  • A club you've been the president of for the past year which you've put a significant amount of work into
  • Compile some of the work you've done (i.e. presentations, meetings, etc.) with pictures into one presentation or online showcase and share it as a PDF/link
  • A painting you made of a particular part of Vancouver you feel particularly proud of
  • Send us a picture

Of course, this list is far from exhaustive! Naturally, you might have some project you are unsure about how to showcase which you would like to ask about. Please direct all inquiries to scholarship@solsticedesign.tech and we'll try our best to get back to you quickly on how best to submit your showcase! We look forward to seeing what you have to offer!
